Rogation Days FAQ

Q: What are Rogation Days?
A: Simply put Rogation days means blessing of land, seeds and livestock, and whatever else a person may desire to have blessed.  We are blessing farms, small businesses, residences not attached to a farm, should you want something blessed we will bless it.

Q: What if I am unavailable to have something blessed on May 27, 28, or 29?
A: You have two options… You can arrange for your pastor/SAM to do a blessing on a different day.  (These are not the ONLY days we can pray for soil, seed, and water.)  Or/and you can bring a representation of earth from your planting beds/yards and seeds you intend to plant to the Worship Service on May 29th start time is 6PM.  We will have a pot in the sanctuary of Solomon Lutheran church and during the service everything in the pot will be blessed!  Your earth and seeds at the service will represent what you want blessed.

Q: What if my congregation does not have a pastor or SAM, or she/he is not available to bless my farm?
A: If your congregation’s pastoral leader is not available for a blessing, contact our Conference Dean, Pastor Shawn O’Brien (pastorobrien@stjohnwilliston.org or 419-378-1112) and he will coordinate with area pastors to schedule a blessing.

Q: Do you need pastors/SAMs to help with blessings May 27-29?
A: Yes!  If you would like to add your name to the ‘reserve list’ to bless farms if a pastoral leader is not available, or if you are serving a less rural congregation and would like to participate in farm/location blessing contact Pastor Bob Noble (joyfulnoise123456@gmail.com) and he can help you find someone to travel with.

Q: Do you need pastors/SAMs to help with worship on May 29?
A: Yes!  All pastors/SAMs are invited to vest for worship.  If you would like to lead, read, or otherwise participate contact Pastor Alan Brown (PastorAlan@solomon.pvt.k12.oh.us) to see where help is needed.

Q: What do I do with dinner reservations?
A: We are asking each congregation to collect reservations locally and then share their numbers with Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville (srewoldt@solomon.pvt.k12.oh.us or call the church office at 419-849-3600) by May 19.  A dinner reservation signup is available for download

Q: How big does a farm have to be to warrant a blessing visit?
A: There is no requirement.  We are blessing farms, garden plots, small businesses, residences not attached to a farm, etc. should you want something blessed we will bless it.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
